The local nursing fraternity has been bolstered with four nurses, who on May 16 last, graduated with their Master’s Degree in Nursing from the Saint Joseph College in Connecticut, United States of America. The online programme commenced in 2008 and culminated last month.The graduates, all members of the Guyana Nurses Association (GNA), are Mandy La Fleur, Nicola Melville, Karen Roberts and Tabitha Mallampatie. They graduated with high honours and have since been inducted into the Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International (SSTI) – Chapter Iota Upsilon.The GNA in a statement yesterday extended congratulations to the successful nurses. Graduates have in the past conducted guest lectures at the University of Guyana, an undertaking which is expected to continue in the future, according to the GNA.The recent graduates have since provided an orientation for prospective students at the University of Guyana and commitment has been expressed by the graduates to mentor successive students and to use their knowledge and skills to benefit their nursing colleagues and the general health sector of Guyana.
